NEWS / AMD Athlon 64 1,4 GHz Review aufgetaucht

Seit dem vergangenen Sonntag ist bei den französischen Kollegen von x86-secret ein Review eines Athlon 64 mit 1,4 GHz nachzulesen. Neben neuen Bildern und ausführlichen Benchmarks, erfahren wir auch mehr über die kommenden Chipsätze die es zu Beginn der neuen K8-Serie überwiegend geben wird. Hier hatten die Kollegen gleich mit zwei Motherboards das Vergnügen: Dem MSI K8H auf Basis des VIA K8T400M und dem Asus K8M basierend auf AMD´s eigenem AMD8000-Chipsatz. Bei der CPU handelt es sich um einen sogenannten "Paris", der mit 256 KB L2-Cache ausgestattet ist. Hier noch ein kleiner (englischer) Ausschnitt aus dem Fazit...

"After these various tests, we now have a more complete outline of than will be the next generation of processors made in AMD. Before commenting on more in details the results and new architecture, it remains significant to recall once again that all the results obtained here are not comparable with those which will be obtained in a few months, on a finalized processor. The principal points of improvements will be the size of the mask L2 and, of course, the final frequency. Indeed, Athlon 64 should be available, at the time of its advertisement, in version 1.6, 1.8 and 2.0 Ghz and equipped with 1 Mo of L2 mask. A version 3700+ (2.2Ghz) should then be born for Q3´ 03, followed by a version 4000+ (2.4Ghz) before the end of the year. By then, a version 256 KB of mask (as that which we tested) will have been born at a still unknown frequency..."
